The activities under this sub-sector provide production statistics on
commercial, municipal and aquaculture fisheries. Data are disseminated to BAS
clients in the fishery sector and are used in formulating policies and programs
for the development of the industry. The activities for this sub-sector are as
follows:
1. Fishery Production Monitoring by Key Informant
2. Approach Commercial Fishery Survey
A survey on fishing operation of boats more than three (3) gross tons to
generate information on the monthly volume of fish catch by fishing ground, by
fishing gear, by species at the provincial, regional and national levels.
3. Marine Fishery Survey
A survey on fishing operation in marine waters carried out without the use of
a boat or with the use of a boat three (3) gross tons or less to generate data
on monthly volume of fish catch by fishing ground, by fishing gear, by species
at the provincial, regional and national levels.
4. Aquaculture Fishery Survey
A survey which covers fishery operations involving all forms of raising and
culturing fish and other fishery species in fresh, brackish and marine water
areas, aimed to generate information on the quarterly volume and value of
harvest, area by sub sector and species at the provincial, regional and national
levels.
5. Inland Municipal Fishery Survey
A survey of fishing operation in inland waters carried out without the use of
a boat or with the use of a boat three (3) gross tons or less aimed to gather
information on fish catch by species, by fishing ground and by fishing gear at
the provincial, regional and national levels.
6. Frame Updating for Commercial / Municipal Fishery Surveys (2000)
A nationwide listing of all commercial / municipal fish landing centers which
will be the basis for the development of new sampling frames for future marine
fishery production surveys.
7. Special Studies on Seaweed Frame Development (2000)
Listing of seaweed farmers in three (3) pilot provinces, namely, Camarines
Norte, Bohol and Zamboanga del Sur and listing of seaweed traders and processors
in three (3) pilot provinces known to have heavy seaweed traders and processors
in three (3) pilot provinces known to have heavy seaweed trading operations,
namely Cebu, Camarines Norte and Zamboanga City aimed to generate sampling frame
for survey of seaweeds.
