1. CROPS
  • In Isabela, planting of palay in irrigated and rainfed areas was in progress. Harvesting of yellow corn started.
  • In San Mariano, Isabela, initial harvesting of sugarcane for ethanol was on-going.
  • In Cagayan, transplanting of irrigated palay areas was almost done.
2. LIVESTOCK AND POULTRY
  • In San Guillermo, Isabela, a newly-opened piggery with a housing capacity of 1,000 head were already operational.
3. FISHERIES
  • In Cabarroguis, Quirino, 5,000 pieces of tilapia fingerlings from a hatchery in San Mateo, Isabela was stocked at the small water impounding project (SWIP) in Zamora.
  • In Cagayan, the volume of commercial and municipal marine fish catch diminished on account of rough seas.
4. PRICES AND MARKET SUPPLY
  • In Isabela, farmgate price per kilogram of hog increased by 5 percent.
  • In Cagayan, supply of locally produced fruits like pineapple, banana and vegetables such as stringbeans and eggplant was abundant.
  • In Nueva Vizcaya, wholesale prices of sweet peas increased by 45 percent and bell pepper by 100 percent with limited supply, while that of tomato decreased by 60 percent owing to abundant supply.
  • In Quirino, supply of locally produced vegetables such as eggplant, okra, patola and tomato was abundant.
5. INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT, PROGRAMS, POLICIES AND GOVERNMENT INTERVENTIONS
  • In Dupax del Sur, Nueva Vizcaya, the local government unit (LGU) distributed 2,500 grams of squash and 1,250 grams of tomato seeds in Barangays Ganao and Kinabuan in line with the program to sustain supply of tomato and squash.
  • The Department of Agriculture (DA) Municipal Office in coordination with the Upland Research Outreach Station in Diffun, Quirino gave free artificial insemination of US Holstein breed to 30 head of cattle in Isidro Paredes and nearby barangays.
  • In Quirino, the Addalam Bridge connecting Pinaripad Sur and Palacian going to Maddela was under repair. The project is worth P41 million.
  • The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) extended P462,000.00 to the Samahang Magsasaka of Wacal, Solano in Nueva Vizcaya for their existing Bio-organic Fertilizer Production Project to increase their output from 100 bags to 400 bags per month.
  • In San Mariano, Isabela, the Ecofuel Land Development Inc. carried out an operational dry run. Among the problems encountered were air, water, and noise pollution, hence, an investigation was requested to the Environment Management Bureau.
  • In Quirino, Isabela, multi- purpose drying pavements were constructed in Rizal and Villabulusan.
  • In Cagayan, construction of four (4) units of multi- purpose drying pavement with an area of 448 square meters each in four (4) barangays of Rizal was in progress. This is funded by the Engineering Division of the DA-RFU II. Each unit is worth P125,000.00 with labor as counterpart of barangay constituents.
6. TRAINING, SEMINARS, WORKSHOPS AND MEETINGS
  • In Tuao, Cagayan, the Municipal Training of Trainees (MTOT) on Organic Farming was launched in different barangays with a duration of three (3) days per scheduled training. This was participated in by interested farmers.
7. WEATHER SITUATION
  • Fair and cloudy skies with scattered rains and rainshowers brought by the low pressure area prevailed across the region.
